Calgary Speed Dating Event Information

About Calgary Speed Dating Events

At Calgary Speed Dating, we arrange an event where in one evening you'll meet an average of 12 singles of the opposite gender (about 24 attendees in all) within a similar age range for fun, 7-minute dates! During those 7-minutes ask questions and converse then decide at the end of the round if this was someone you'd like to see again. Secretly mark your answer on an event card and if you both marked "yes" then a match is made! Your contact information will be releaced to each other next day. The rest is up to you!

Before an Event

View the Event Dates choose one and Register for an event using the Registration page.
I'll send an email to you confirming the event along with registration then let you know to go ahead and provide on-line Payment of $50 Cdn (with GST $52.50). You'll receive a follow-up email confirming payment.

Everyone is required to pay for their event ahead of time, otherwise there is no commitment to attend. Also, to protect the integrity of the events, participants are required to bring a driver's license or other form of picture id to the events. (Please see our privacy policy in the FAQ.)

Before the Event you may also want to spend some time roaming through the FAQ for ideas of what to expect.

Arriving at an Event

We hold all our events at 7:15pm at the Ruberto Ostberg Gallery, 2108 18th Street N.W. This funky little art gallery is the perfect location as it is more private than a bar or restaurant and is closed to the public during speed dating events. Also, there is lot parking and plenty of street parking in its semi residential area.

All of our events are non-smoking. Snacks are provided at the break and beverages are complementary.

Uppon arriving at the event, there are usually separate registration areas for men and women. Collect your Event Card and your Profile sheet of everyone attending.

We never ask the men and women to remain separated prior to an event, rather the opposite. There is plenty to do.

While waiting for the event to begin, feel free to browse the artwork (it completely changes every month) and get a beverage. If you're feeling shy, do sit down at a table and read the entire Profile sheet. If you're feeling confident and courageous then mingle!

During an Event

After a short welcome and explination of how the Event Cards work, the 7-minute dates commence. Choose to converse rather than interogate. It will put the other person far more at ease and those minutes will fly by. Refer to the Profile when having difficulty starting conversation so that you may find common ground.

A bell will indicate the end of each round. Secretly indicate on your Event Cars if you'd like to see this person again.

The break around 8:40pm will indicate just beyond the half way mark. The break lasts 15-20 minutes then we resume until the end of the rounds.

Events end usuallly between 9:45pm and 10:00pm.

After an Event

Keep the Profile sheet to help you remember who everyone was the next day. Hand in the Event Card before you leave.

The next day expect an email usually before noon will let you know of your matches. (a phone call can be done but will have to be clearly indicated first). If you've not heard from me by then, let me know.

Once you have your matches the rest is up to you!
